Headed back there a month later to win the December Glenfarclas and could very well have to decide between another trip to Prestbury or a go at the Grand National National Hunt second place finished last season at Cheltenham behind Gaillard Du Mesnail so Chemical Energy is no slouch.

Has only had one race this season with a so-so run at Listowel in the Kerry Guinness but if he's on form at Aintree he could do well. Lightly chased but did exceptionally well to win the feature chase at the Leopardstown Christmas festival beating out 26 rivals in the process.

Nassalam is having a terrific season, first testing the waters in the Welsh Grand National Trial which he won, only to then return to Chepstow a little over two weeks later and actually win the race itself!

Winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup in , Minella Indo pulled up in last year's renewal but has started this season well with a win at Punchestown, albeit a Grade 3 race that might have been run to blow the cobwebs off after the Summer. Lightly chased with only six starts though he has won three of them.

They were last season when he was on a bit of a winning streak that seems to have deserted him this season. Given the quality of entries for the Grand National , he may struggle to get in.

Delta Work's journey in the Grand National was abruptly halted at the 21st fence, but with a prior 3rd place finish at Aintree, he's not to be underestimated. Will this be his year to shine?

That said, never overlook horses that have proven stamina around the course. Especially one that won the Goffs Thyestes last time out! Did really well to finish second over 3m5f at Warwick. That gave his Official Rating a much-needed boost and one that may see him make the cut.

Though with only 34 horses this year, it's going to come down to the wire. Was second in the Irish Grand National in and won the JT McNamara Munster National in October.

However, he is also as likely to pull up having done that three times already this season. Still on decent form and could have another go at those tricky fences in April Ran in the National but unseated his jockey and hasn't been seen since though he is entered into the Midlands Grand National.

How he does there will tell a lot about his current form and whether another go at the Grand National is a good idea. Having pulled up in the Gold Cup last year, it looks like Willie Mullins may skip Cheltenham this season with Stattler now firmly aimed at the Grand National A former National Hunt winner, his form appears to have dipped this season so only time will tell if he can really compete in this race.

A solid chaser in the making who is in excellent form this season. Has one or two alternative options as his chances of making the cut in are almost non-existent. He's too far down the list no matter what the odds say.

With only four career chase starts, this runner is woefully under-experienced. Other than a couple of small non-graded chases, has only had one real run and that was the Kerry National.

In fairness, he was in second place but one swallow does not make a Summer! This will be the third attempt at the Grand National for Coko Beach.

He was 8th in and pulled up in On solid form, he was 2nd in the Becher Chase in December, so he clearly loves this course with proven ability to get around. He hasn't had a win in a couple of years but is on much better form this season than in other years, with two second-place finishes at Limerick and in the Goffs Thyestes.

It would be a surprise if this horse was capable of winning the Grand National No surprise the horse is owned by JP McManus given that he hails from Limerick in Ireland.

On very good form but lacks any experience beyond 3 miles so the distance at Aintree could be a big problem. Young and lightly chased, but last season showed signs of promise as Iron Bridge finished 2nd in back-to-back races at Warwick and Uttoxeter.
